`Edexcel Update`

A new CD and booklet to cover the forthcoming Edexcel syllabus changes. Questions cover the three new topics - `Expressionism`, `Dance music from 1985` and `Britpop`.

The first two questions contain 24 short extracts which cover a wide range of techniques used in dance and pop / rock music (sweep filtering, slap, slicing, pick scrape etc.) all of which are illustrated on CD.

There are 24 questions in EDEXCEL exam format, plus mark schemes and 20 tracks on the CD.
The layout is very similar to our current EDEXCEL `Sample Papers`.

The CD contains all the relevant extracts except 8 tracks relating to `Britpop` (due to copyright issues). HOWEVER, these 8 `Britpop` questions are based on the first 70 - 90 seconds of easily available tracks which can be quickly downloaded from the internet at the (current) cost of 79p per track.

If you have not previously downloaded music from the internet, full details of how to locate these tracks and download them are included in the pack. Please be assured that this is an entirely legal way to purchase these tracks.

Please note that all of our previous GCSE publications and CDs will continue to be available in their existing form.

Edexcel `AS` and `A2` Composing Techniques

                                            MANY SIGNIFICANT NEW FEATURES

These exercises are now available as computer files - students can see and hear back their work as they complete the exercises on computer and can also print off their finished work. Ideal for independent work, for use in differentiated, individual programmes of study and for homework. All exercises are available in `Sibelius` (.sib),`Logic` (.lso) and MIDI (.mid) file formats. TIFF and PDF files of each exercise are also included for display and printing purposes.

This is a substantial rewrite and redrafting of our existing publications and many new graded exercises have been added - all now presented in the exact format used by Edexcel in the exam papers. The exercises used in past examination papers have also been included.

Composers` original scores for Baroque and Renaissance counterpoint are also provided (in `Sibelius` and `Adobe Acrobat` format) to provide illustrations of stylistically appropriate solutions.

Audio tracks of actual extracts are also included to illustrate appropriate stylistic and structural features. Some are taken from our existing Composing Techniques publications, but many new tracks have also been added. Many of these audio extracts have scores to accompany them.

The graded student exercises draw attention to relevant audio tracks and are frequently annoted with appropriate teaching and stylistic points taken from the mark scheme and from chief examiners` reports.

We do think that this package is now a complete course in itself and effectively obviates the need for any further resources or copying. Once installed on your department computers and / or school network, students will be able to progess at their own, individual rate.

There are over 200 exercises in total, each presented in multiple formats.

The following exercises are available in these new file formats. All are presented in the format used by Edexcel in past papers and are set up to play back on appropriate GM instruments.
