Index / Contents of Music Technology - Unit 4.

Questions are all based on the format used in the EDEXCEL Specimen Paper for Unit 4 - Analysing and Producing.

Pages 2 - 11:

A set of 10 questions dealing with `musical` elements - such as pitch, rhythm, chords and structure. There is also some basic track assembly, pan resetting and other basic manipulation in this section.

A sample question from the first section of the publication.

Pages 12 - 21:

A set of 10 exercises dealing with manipulation of audio files - time stretching, pitch shifting, trimming + looping, level matching, automation etc. All the necessary files are included on the CD.

A sample exercise from the `Editing of Audio Files` section of the publication.

Pages 22 - 29:

A set of 5 exercises dealing with MIDI files and the integration of MIDI and audio. Although MIDI does not appear in the EDEXCEL specimen paper, it is included in the specifications for this paper . . . Again, all the necessary files are included on the CD.

A sample exercise from Section 3 - `MIDI`.

Pages 30 - 48:

A set of 5 complete papers, based on the format and mark distribution used by EDEXCEL in the Specimen Paper. Some longer `studio based` recording questions have been included to preserve the balance of questions used in the Specimen Paper, but on the whole the emphasis in this publication is on computer software and score based questions especially the editing of audio and MIDI files.

One of the five complete papers from Section 4 of the publication.

A full mark scheme is provided, although clearly a significant part of the assessment will take the form of an evaluation of the success of students` final mixes.
