Section B: Prescribed Works

Questions based on the format used in the OCR Specimen Paper. Two sets of questions for each of the first set of six set works with skeleton scores and appropriate extracts on CD. (An update will be available in 2011 to cover set works for 2012 – 2015.)

Section A:

A series of graded exercises in a variety of styles designed to enable candidates to devise suitable harmonies (chord symbols, Roman numerals and figured bass are all covered) and bass lines, with appropriate examples on CD. The exercises conform to the specifications outlined in the new syllabus. The CD also contains all the exercises in Sibelius 4 and MIDI format . . . students can both see and hear the music as they complete their work on computer.

 Section B:

Arrangement option. A series of short exercises designed to enable students to devise suitable harmonies and to identify characteristic features of a range of styles which they might wish to use in their arrangements (illustrative examples on CD). A number of folk song lead sheets are also included which can be used as the basis for candidates` final submissions.

In these 2008 publications, we have re-used SOME relevant CD tracks from our existing publications, but the questions have been re-written and are always presented in the formats used by the exam boards in their new specimen papers.
